Delta 8 THC is a cannabis compound derived from Hemp. It is known for having similar, but milder psychoactive effects as Delta 9 THC. Due to this similarity and legal availability, it quickly gained traction early in 2021. It is still pretty new, therefore so many misconceptions still circulate on the internet. Finding reliable information about D8 can be difficult, so we’re here to talk about the most common misconceptions.

Major Misconceptions Debunked

Whether you know everything about Delta 8 or are looking to learn more, check out the breakdown of these misconceptions.

Is it Dangerous?

There is little indication that Delta 8 could have any substantial health risk. Obviously, making poor choices, such as driving, while on it can be unsafe and result in poor consequences. Aside from that, be sure you are purchasing lab-tested and safe Delta 8 THC.

It is important when purchasing D8, to buy from reputable sources that share lab results. Many manufacturers will utilize additives or fillers in their products. They may even leave behind dangerous chemicals from the extraction process. Sketchy brands that don’t extensively test their product or disclose their ingredients should be avoided for your health and safety.

At Vance Global, we never use any additives or fillers. We truly value transparency and safety, so we always release our lab tests on our website and include them in orders. Our ingredients can always be found on our website and packaging.

Are Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC the Same?

Nope! While D8 THC and D9 THC (traditional THC) share some similar traits, they differ in their carbon chain position and extraction. Delta 8 has a double-bond on the eighth carbon, but Delta 9 has it on the ninth. As well as that, it requires more effort in extraction. Because of this, it is often extracted from hemp rather than marijuana.

However, they do relate in their psychoactive effects. Like Delta 9, Delta 8 can get you high, but far milder and less anxiety-inducing. It has been reported to induce a much easier experience with fewer side effects. It is also believed to be half the potency of traditional THC.

Is it Synthetic?

It is not synthetic as it is naturally occurring. Oftentimes, Delta 8 can be created in labs which is what raises the question of being synthetic. This process is only speeding up a naturally occurring process. The DEA states, a cannabinoid must be “chemically unrelated” to THC in order to be synthetic. No atoms are added or subtracted during the process, therefore it would not be considered synthetic by the DEA’s standards.

Is it Illegal?

Due to the 2018 Farm Bill that legalized the farming, production, and use of hemp, Delta 8 is federally legal as it is made from hemp. As long as it’s legal in both states, it can be shipped over state lines. Although federally legal, some states have chosen to make it illegal or heavily regulated. While there has been some concern regarding Delta 8 legality, it remains legal in most states. Check out this blog post to check your state’s legality.
